Takeaways from the 2025 Aspen Business & Society Summit

The 2025 Aspen Business & Society Summit brought together business leaders, investors, and advisors to work together on a path to progress in aligning business capability, market signals, and leadership with long-term value creation. In this piece, Judy Samuelson distilled the insights from the convening into three key takeaways: businesses are increasingly equipped and motivated to act; policy matters right now, but in its absence, clear market signals can drive significant change; and stand-up leadership is essential in this era of disruption.

As Judy explained, “The public isn’t looking for corporations to weigh in on every social issue that divides us. It does expect business leaders to speak more clearly about and invest in the health of the systems on which we all depend.” She explained, "Stories of catalytic decisions aligned with corporate purpose and with promising ROI illuminated discussions throughout the Summit. Such actions build the case for maintaining long-term commitments.” As U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres put it, “This is not just a shift in power. This is a shift in possibility.”
