An Historical View of Corporate Political Rights & Influence
Adam Winkler & Vikramaditya Khanna
Video 1 of 3
On February 10, 2022, we spoke with Adam Winkler, UCLA law and Vikramaditya Khanna, Michigan Law to explore “CPR & The History of Corporate Political rights.”
In our discussions about political influence and the role of business, people will often refer to current norms and laws as if the way they are now is inevitable, as if there was only one way to think about it -- for better or worse. Understanding corporate political rights in a historical and international context would be crucial for us to understand the effect of the current legal framework and what might be needed to be improved and refined.
In this module, we explore:
- A brief overview of corporate political rights and how those have evolved over time?
- What are the biggest points of difference between the US and other developed countries?
The Corporate Political Responsibility Taskforce (CPRT)’s Expert Dialogues are in-depth, recorded conversations with academic experts, stakeholder advocates and business practitioners to provide our members and other CPR champions with the expertise and context they need to develop principled, proactive CPR strategies. We invite those interested in a constructive, non-partisan, principles-based discussion.
